Reading V Leeds at Madejski Stadium - Match Preview

Pogrebnyak banned for Royals

Reading will be without suspended striker Pavel Pogrebnyak when they entertain Leeds.

The Russian serves a one-match ban after he was sent off for two yellow cards, the second for a dive, in the goalless draw with Brighton on Sunday.

Nick Blackman is set to replace Pogrebnyak in attack, Shaun Cummings and Garath McLeary could return to the squad while Wayne Bridge is in line to start after coming off the bench against the Seagulls following a knee knock.

Mikele Leigertwood (ankle) Jason Roberts (hip) are edging closer to fitness after long-term injuries but are still some way from returning to the first team.

Leeds boss Brian McDermott can add Sam Byram to his squad for the trip to his former club.

Right-back Byram has recovered from the hip injury which has kept him out all season and could replace Lee Peltier, who limped off against Bolton on Saturday with a groin problem.

McDermott has an otherwise fully-fit squad as he prepares for his first return to the Madejski Stadium since he was axed by Reading in March, having guided the club to the Premier League the previous season.

Another former Royal, striker Noel Hunt, will start in attack alongside Luke Varney, who scored the winner against Bolton.
