Reading V Ipswich at Madejski Stadium - Match Preview

Blackman banned

Reading will start life back in the Sky Bet Championship against Ipswich without the suspended Nick Blackman.

The striker serves a one-match ban following an altercation with a steward last year.

Manager Nigel Adkins will hope to put a mixed pre-season behind him and is likely to call upon former Real Madrid winger Royston Drenthe, ex-England international Wayne Bridge and American midfielder Danny Williams.

The Royals are set to face former player Jay Tabb, who could be available for the Tractor Boys, while other notable departures from the Madejski Stadium this summer include Ian Harte and Noel Hunt.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy could hand debuts to as many as 10 new players.

The Tractor Boys are set to unveil a new-look squad including defenders Christophe Berra and former Manchester United youngster Frederic Veseli.

Goalkeeper Dean Gerken could also feature after a successful trial while midfielders Ryan Tunnicliffe, Paul Anderson, Lee Martin, Cole Skuse and Jay Tabb are all vying for inclusion.

Former Celtic striker Daryl Murphy could partner David McGoldrick in attack following a busy summer at Portman Road.
