Royals boss Pardew feels that if Adie Williams keeps up his recent form then a call-up to the Welsh national side may not be too far away.

Williams, signed back from Wolves in the summer of 2000 after a four-year spell in the Midlands, has been in sparkling form lately and has been the cornerstone of the Mackie - Williams - Upson defensive trio.

Alan Pardew feels that a recall to the Welsh side may not be too far away for the 31-year-old who already has twelve caps to his name.

The Royals boss expressed his belief that an international recall for Williams may not be too far away for in his programme notes for tomorrow's clash against Ipswich.

"In any team you need indivisuals who offer a higher level of perfromance without detracting from team ethic. You could certainly put Andy Hughes in that category. He's not alone, Adie Williams, if he keeps up his current form, must surely be worthy of a recall to the Welsh squad," wrote Pardew.

Mark Hughes' Wales side have put in some excellent performances lately and have surged to the top of their group with a win in Finland and a remarkable 2-1 victory over the Italians at the Millennium Stadium.

The Welsh have also recorded a win against World Cup Finalists Germany this year and managed a draw againt the Argentinians.

An international call-up is an honour for any player but for Williams, a defender written off by critics in the past, it would be a superb turn around in fortunes.
