PARDEW'S RESIGNATION REJECTED

Pardew has had his long-protracted move away from the club blocked by Reading chairman John Madejski.

The manager attempted to resign today in order to take charge of Division One rivals West Ham United. However, Pardew, incensed by the 42-year-old's disloyalty, promptly rejected the request.

The Hammers now face a battle to get their man as Madejski is insistent that Pardew should not be able to walk out on Reading as he has a legally binding contract.

Pards, who would double his wages at West Ham, could be set to be sent on 'gardening leave' whilst Kevin Dillon is left in charge of first team affairs.

The Royals manager, who eventually broke his two week long silence today, has admitted he will not be at Upton Park on Saturday whether his employers are Reading or West Ham.
