Leigertwood happy with the Royals

"It was nice to get named in the side. I would have liked to have won the game but we can take positives from it.

"But it's been good and all the staff and players have been first class," Leigertwood told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"I knew there was a good squad here so there's going to be competition for places. But I was pleased to get out there straight away and I thought it was going alright until I got cramp but it's been enjoyable."

Leigertwood has made just one start for Championship leaders Rangers this season and was on the bench when QPR beat Reading 3-1 earlier this month.

"I've played against most of the players here so I know what they are capable of. The run they went on last year shows what they can do. It's just getting that run of form together and getting that confidence up," he said.

Although the Antigua international is frustrated not to have had a starring role in Neil Warnock's team, he does admit he is relishing a new challenge with the Royals.

"I spoke to Neil Warnock and he told me I wasn't in his plans and I was a little disappointed but also excited to get an opportunity at Reading. They are a club that has got what it takes to go to the Premiership and this is where I want to be.

"I would want to make it a long-term move if possible, provided everyone is happy with what I am doing but I think we'll have to see what happens when the time comes," he said.
