A happy James Harper admitted that he is dearly hoping that he will be recalled to the starting line-up for the clash with Ipswich next weekend - he has not started a match since August 13th - when the Royals played Sheffield Wednesday.

The 21-year-old ex-Arsenal trainee has been described by Alan Pardew many times as "technically the most gifted player at the club."

Despite this Harps still fails to make the first team on a regular basis due to below par performances - put down to a lack of confidence.

However, after impressing in a twelve minute spell as a substitute at Grimsby last weekend Harper is hopeful that a recall is not far away.

"I am enjoying playing at the moment, and hopefully, after last week's performance, I can start against Ipswich. However, I would like to go out on loan to get games, although I haven't been pushing for that lately," admitted Harper.

"The midfield doing well makes it hard for me, but that is good for the team. I want the team to do well but we are playing a formation that suits me so I really want to get back into the team."

With Reading's game against Crystal Paalce postponed Harper, who turns 22 next month, admits he will put his free weekend to good use.

"We have this weekend off. I don't get too many during the course of a season so I'll be taking advantage of it this weekend."
