Church came off the bench to fire in a late equaliser at Hull on Tuesday and is hoping to dislodge fellow strikers Shane Long or Noel Hunt in Brian McDermott`s line-up.
Club captain Ivar Ingimarsson (hamstring) completed 90 minutes for the reserves earlier this month and the defender could be involved for the first time this season.
His Icelandic compatriot Brynjar Gunnarsson (knee) is also back in training but the defensive midfielder is not expected to start.
McDermott has no other injury problems as he looks to build on an eight-match unbeaten streak.
Rodgers lasted just 23 games in charge of the Royals before he was sacked last December.
