Ashdown Pleased With Victory

Ashdown had to step in for Marcus Hahnemann at the last minute when it emerged that the bald American would not be fit to play.

However, the 21-year-old put in a solid performance, making one good save and maintaining a clean sheet.

The rookie shotstopper, who recently completed a month on loan at Bournemouth, was satisfied with his performance and pleased that the side chalked up another three points.

"It was a good win. Basically we held on in the second half and we did well,"said Ashdown, speaking to readingfc.co.uk.

"I wasn't really troubled although I had one good save to make. I just tried to tip it around the post and managed to do so.

"We were under pressure a little in the last fifteen minutes until the third goal went in. That was a bit bizzare - I wouldn't like one of them to happen to me."

Despite putting in a decent performance, Marcus Hahnemann is expected to return to the side for the visit of Ipswich on the 19th October.
