Tomorrow night's game will be Reading's first visit to Dean Court since it's redevelopment two years ago. However, if the new ground is anything like the old one it may not prove to be a happy hunting ground for Pardew's side.
Reading have won just 22% of away games against the Cherries, a stark contrast to the 60% success rate they have achieved when clashes between the sides have been staged in Reading.
Overall, Reading hold a slight advantage over Bournemouth in the all-time tables. The Royals have won 41 times the two sides have met, with the Cherries triumphing on 35 occasions. A further 24 games have been drawn.
Pardew's side didn't play the Cherries last season as the two clubs were in separate divisions. As we attempted to earn promotion to the Premiership the Cherries were achieving promotion, albeit to Division Two.
The previous year, season 2001-02, the South Coast side certainly got the better of clashes with Reading. On Tuesday 25th September 2001, in a match played at Dorchester Town FC, Bournemouth triumphed by one goal to nil thanks to a James Hayter strike.
The Cherries attempted to repeat the trick six months later, but Wade Elliot fired a stoppage time penalty over the bar at the Madejski Stadium with the scores deadlocked at 2-2. However, the Dean Court side managed to take four points off Reading, no mean feat.
