After nearly making the First Division last season it has been downhill all the way for Brentford. With several players out of contract financial difficulties meant that the Bees couldn't afford to re-sign their star names.

Defender Ivar Ingimarsson, one of the star names released by Brentford, today signed for Wolves, despite the Staines Informer he is "close to signing a deal with Reading".

The Icelandic International was part of last seasons Bees side that were just thirteen minutes from beating Reading and winning automatic promotion to Division One. One failure simply led to another as they lost 2-0 to Stoke in the Play Off Final.

With mounting debts departing chairman Ron Noades was forced to lay off players, manager Steve Coppell was also a casualty.

The Royals have, as yet, not signed anyone this summer and it looks as if it will stay that way until the ITV scenario is resolved.
