Alan Pardew is reportedly set to bring in Chelsea's Robert Huth on a three month loan deal to plug the gap in the heart of the Royals defence.

Huth has played several times for the Chelsea first team despite only celebrating his eighteenth birthday back in August. The German has been dubbed 'The Berlin Wall' and is certainly extremely highly rated.

Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri is reportedly ready to let Huth spend some time at the Madejski Stadium in order for the youngster to gain some first team experience.

Royals boss Alan Pardew's defence has been weakened in the past week as highly-influential loanee Matthew Upson was forced to return to Arsenal after spending three months on loan at Reading, the maximim permitted by the rules.

With limited first team opportunities with the Blues available the mighty 6ft 3in centre-back could well spend three months at the Madejski Stadium. International defenders Marcel Desially, William Gallas and John Terry currently block Huth's path to the first team.
