Charlton Ace Linked With Royals Move

According to the Sunday People Reading are set to sign Charlton's veteran defender Steve Brown on a bosman transfer.

Brown, who has spent his entire career with the Addicks is out of contract and likely to find a new club.

The story first broke back in April and it may just be a case of the Sunday People being late to pick up on what is old news.

'Brownie' as he is affectionately known by fans signed for the Valley based side back in 1990.

The 30-year-old would be a perfect signing for Reading as the club have a good link-up with Charlton, with manager Alan Pardew having previously played for them.

Pards has returned to his former club to bring John Salako and Keith Jones to the club as well as goalkeeper Ben Roberts on loan. As a central defender Brown could fill the gap alongside John Mackie that the Royals have, until now at least, been unable to fill.
