Former Trinidad & Tobago international Rougier is set for a spell on the sidelines after an x-ray revealed that he has a broken toe.

The news will be extremely frustrating for the 31-year-old who was looking forward to a prolonged spell in the team after some good displays of late.

It had first been thought that the winger-come-striker had merely suffered bad bruising to the afore mentioned toe, however an x-ray confirmed the worst.

Anthony Rougier is expected to miss the upcoming games against Bradford and Preston. whilst he recuperates.

Physio Jon Fearn told readingfc.co.uk: "Rougier has broken his toe. We'll have a look at the fracture and hope to talk to a specialist shortly.

"If he's comfortable he could even play on Saturday and we may even be able to work around the injury.

"I expect him to at least be in with a chance of being fit for Preston but there's always a worry that if he comes back to early there could be complications."
