Wimbledon Supporters Club Ask Royals Fans To Boycott Selhurst Park Clash

Last updated : 24 February 2003 By Rob Cooper

To all Royals Fans,

From one football lover to another, I beg you not to go to Selhurst Park this coming Saturday. The solidarity of football fans is the only thing we have left to stop the start of franchising in British football and the destruction of the game we love. The FA and Football League are meant to look after football fans like you and I, but we were badly let down by both of them. The ONLY way of stopping Koppel and Co. is if all football fans around the country take a stand and boycott all home games of Wimbledon/Franchise F.C. Just imagine someone taking your club away, you would be as desperate for help as we are. Koppel is one of the worst examples of a businessman who not only cares nothing for the game but also goes around discrediting football fans by stirring up opposition of local residents to a return to Plough Lane.

So far the response of fans around the country has rekindled my belief in football in this country, a belief that had been practically destroyed by the events of the summer. Koppel simply viewed football fans as a cashflow and underestimated the reaction of a real football fan (i.e. not a London based Man U fan!). The brilliant results of the boycott can be found at: - http://www.wisa.org.uk If you can make it, come and see AFC Wimbledon play instead, the value of drinks bought for you is likely to be much greater than the admission fee. It will be a fun day out and the standard of football is surprisingly high.

Thank you taking time to read this,

Football is a bigger game than one match.
