Not wanted by Pardew in Reading: Phil Whitehead
Whitehead's new club Tranmere Rovers recorded a 1-0 over Stockport on Saturday. Following the game the big shotstopper admitted he is seeking a move away from the Madejski Stadium.

Whitehead told the Tranmere Rovers Official Site: "I am looking to get a move away from Reading. I think it's quite well known that I had a disagreement with Alan Pardew, I've gone from first choice to fourth choice in just two weeks.

"Pardew's made it quite clear he wants me out and I want to leave so going to Tranmere was an ideal opportunity. I'll take it game by game and then take it from there.

"I've gone to Tranmere to play games. If a scout is watching me then fine, and if Ray Mathias wants to take me to Tranmere then brilliant, so we'll see how it goes."

After starting the season as Reading's first choice goalkeeper Phil Whitehead has found himself forced off the scene at Reading following the emergence of Marcus Hahnemann as the Royals first choice 'keeper.

He angered Alan Pardew by speaking publically about his desire to leave the Royals as he wasn't getting first team football 33-year-old Whitehead found himself dropped to fourth choice 'keeper behind rookies Jamie Ashdown and Jamie Ashdown.

Pardew agreed to let 'Big Phil' spend a month on loan at Tranmere in an attempt to engineer a move away from the club for the former fans favourite.

In the dying minutes of Rover's win over Stockport Whitehead made an excellent stop to ensure his new club chalked up all three points.
