Wood has been struggling with a knee injury, but is fit again and returned to the substitutes' bench for Saturday's win at Burnley. Richard Hinds was rewarded for his impressive recent form with a place alongside Mark Beevers in the centre.

Laws hinted that striker Akpo Sodje could be included in the squad "within the next seven days", but his return could be delayed until the home clash with Wolves on Saturday.

Sodje last appeared for the Owls in November and has made only six appearances this season due to a knee tendon injury.

Laws is still without midfield's Etienne Esajas (foot) and Steve Watson (hip) remain long-term absentees.

Reading boss Steve Coppell has no new injury or suspension concerns but is expected to make changes.

The Royals saw their Championship promotion charge suffer another blow with a 1-0 defeat to struggling Nottingham Forest at the weekend and have now only scored once in their last six games.

Despite making three changes on Saturday, Reading drew a blank once again and Leroy Lita is pushing for a place up front after he was replaced by Noel Hunt against Forest.

Jay Tabb made his Reading debut as a substitute at the weekend and could come into the midfield, while goalkeeper Adam Federici is likely to keep Marcus Hahnemann on the bench at Hillsborough.

Defender Ivar Ingimarsson is a long-term absentee and out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
