The 19 year old midfielder has played five times for Southend during the loan spell that's due to end after the weekend.
"I would like Hal to be here beyond Saturday's match and I've already spoken to him about the situation," said Tilson.
"I will speak to him again but the ball is in his court now really and hopefully he will agree to stay for however long he wants."
