Reading left-back Nicky Shorey, who has put some assured performances in so far this season, insists he is concentrating on giving it all for the Royals and is not thinking about the possibility of being called up to the England Under 21 squad.

Alan Pardew had earlier suggested that David Platt should pick Shorey for the game against Macedonia next month which is to be played at the Madejski Stadium. You can win tickets to that game if you click here.

Speaking to readingfc.co.uk the 21-year-old said: "I haven't heard much about the Under 21 squad rumours, I'm not concentrating on them, I'm just trying to play the next game for Reading, that's all I want to do at the minute.

"Some say we've done OK, I think I've done alright, I'm just trying to do well for Reading in the First Division."

The left-back, who has only been playing first team football for a year, was signed by Alan Pardew for £20,000 in February 2001.
