James Henry twice brought Reading from benhind during normal time in tonight's Carling Cup tie at Stoke City.
The game ended 2 - 2 and extra time produced no more goals.
In the penalty shoot out Leroy Lita blasted his kick over the bar to hand Stoke a place in round 4 of the competition.
