The deal is set to be completed today which will see the midfielder sign a three and a half year contract.

Quotes from those involved:

Royals director of football Nicky Hammond said on the club's official website: "Marek is primarily a central midfield player but he is also capable of playing in both wide positions or behind the strikers.

"He has been playing for a smaller club in the Czech league but he is an established international who is likely to be included in the very strong Czech Republic squad in the Euro 2008 finals.

"He is a player we have been following for some time, and when the opportunity arose to sign him it was too good to turn down."

Matejovsky told the Czech club's official website, www.fkmb.cz: "I am really happy, I am going to the best league in the world.

"Now it is important I play well on the pitch."

Steve Coppell said on Reading's website: "He's bright, bubbly, intelligent and we hope he can be a good acquisition.

"He's flexible, he's a good player. He can play centrally or wide, he's a bubbly character and can slot in a number of places.

"He's got the European Championships coming up this summer, he wants to push on and do well to get in the team.

"He's the right kind of fit."
