Anthony Rougier came off the bench to make his third appearance of the season for Reading at Rotherham on Saturday.

The tricky winger, who has played a lot of reserve team football so far this year, made a good impression on the game and almost scored with his first touch.

Following the game Rouge admitted that he was delighted that his side had managed to earn themselves a point away from home, despite others suggesting that maybe Reading could have won the game.

He said to BBC Radio Berkshire: "We were away from home so 0-0 was a good result. We're not in Division Two anymore - it's not easy to win away from home. We are certainly happy with a point.

"We probably had the chances to win the game, but that's football. To be fair they had good chances as well and could have won. As I said, it was a good point for us, another clean sheet as well, it was certainly a confidence booster for us.

"We can go home with our heads held high, not with our tails in between our legs."

Rougier, disliked by many fans for his at times lazy performances, has not featured much in the first team this season.

"Of course it's frustrating not being in the team. I'm not happy on the bench. But, at the end of the day, it's the manager's decision and I will always back him 100%.

"Hopefully if I keep training, keep playing well I will get my chance. I feel that I am more than capable of playing in the first team. Whatever happens I will not stop trying. I enjoy playing in the reserve games, they help give me more confidence."
