The Trinidad & Tobago international fired the Reading into an eleventh minute lead against the Potters, however Rouge's strike wasn't enough as Jurgen Vandeurzen fired in an equaliser.

Despite having such a poor forward in front of goal many people wonder why Alan Pardew persists in playing his talented but at times mis-firing forward.

However now that the first has come Rouge has promised Royals fans more goals.

The striker, who is a devout Christian, told Teamtalk.com: "I know that the goal against Stoke will be the first of many this season. All I can really say is the best is yet to come. I am getting better every game.

"Scoring is a weight off my mind a little, but my team-mates have been encouraging me a lot. They have all given me a great lift.

"I pray before games, during games, every chance I get, God is my life and this goal has been a long time coming. I was not dispirited, God knows what he is doing.

"Last week I played well and the team played well but I didn't score, today I scored and we drew, so it works both ways.

"I owe everything to him, he is number one in my life and everything else comes behind that. I have been praying to the Lord Jesus Christ to help and guide me through, which he has done, and will continue to do."
