Roeder Looks Ahead To Royals Clash

Reading will tonight play their final pre-season fixture before the Division One campaign kicks off on Saturday.

The Madejski Stadium will play host to Reading V West Ham, a repeat of last season's dramatic Worthington Cup Second Round clash which saw the Royals triumph 6-5 on penalties.

The Hammers will likely be looking to avenge their defeat, whilst Reading will just be looking to fill the stadium after a disappointing 3,054 turned up for Friday's game against Charlton. High ticket prices are expected to keep many away from tonights game, a poor attendance looks likely.

Ahead of the game Glenn Roeder told the West Ham Official Website, whufc.com: "Reading will provide good opposition. They play a good attractive game, and are not known for anything other than English football.

"We know when we play Reading, Norwich and Vitesse Arnhem, those three games will be good tests for us. We will be looking to get our act together for our opening game against Newcastle."

The West Ham line-up is expected to include stars such as Paulo Di Canio, who could be on his way to Manchester United, Jermaine Defoe, David James, Michael Carrick, England star Joe Cole, Frederic Kanoute, Raimond van der Gouw and Tomas Repka.

Possible Reading Line-Up: P Whitehead, G Murty, J Mackie, A Viveash, N Shorey, K Watson, J Salako, A Hughes, J Harper, N Forster, M Butler
