Reading Star Makes England Squad

The first year scholar could be in the England side that does battle with the Faroe Islands, Sweden and Norway at the end of this month in the Nordic tournament.

The 16-year-old was unsurpirsingly delighted at the news that he has been picked to represent his country.

Depending on the outcome of England's games they could find themselves in a final or third place play off.

Reading Under 17 coach, Nas Bashir, told" I am delighted for Darren, he thoroughly deserves the call up on the back of his performances for us last season.

"He has done excellent for Reading Football Club and is a very exciting prospect. Hopefully he will be pushing for the under 19 team and the reserve squad this season.

"This experience with his national team is a fantastic opportunity and will put him in good stead for his future football career and development as a player."

Then youngster has previously played in the England under 16 side.
