Phil Parkinson was pleased with the win over Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday but he feels that the club can go on from that and achieve greater things.

Many players have talked about the importance of self belief, Phil certainly feels that you need it to be successful.

Parky told readingfc.co.uk: "It was very important to win on Tuesday. After going one down it was good that the lads kept their self-belief and put in an excellent second half performance.

"Now we've got our first win under our belts we can go on from here because we've got a lot of good players."

Parkinson, who came on as a late substitute, was impressed with team mate Jamie Cureton's performance. Phil continuted: "With Curo you know that if he gets three chances he'll put two away - he's that good. We need to make sure we put enough good quality balls into the box for him.

"The games are coming thick and fast at the moment, but this is what we worked so hard to get into the First Division for, I hope the fans are enjoying it. Even though the team didn't put in a good performance at Derby it was good to play there."

Having lost his place in the side to former Arsenal midfielder James Harper Parky is confident that he, and many of the other reserves will get their chance.

He added: "There is a lot of competition for places at the moment, but I'm sure the gaffers team selection will be fairly easy this week after the great performance in the second half against Sheffield Wednesday.

"But the reserve team played well against Nrowich on Wedneday and quite a few players are knocking on the door of the first team."

Meanwhile, the club have now sold more than 7,000 season tickets for this season - smashing the previous record set last year of 5,500.
