Pards: No Contact From Stoke

Pardew has again failed to deny rumours that he is set to head North to manage Division One rivals Stoke City. However he claims the Potters haven't approached him about the job.

The Reading manager, who is out of contract at the end of the season, admits that his position at the club is uncertain until he sits down and negotiates a new deal.

"I have had no contact from Stoke so as far as I know it is just speculation. As yet I don't know what is going to happen at the end of the season though," said Pards, speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire.

The Royals boss says that he also feels unable to sign players in the current situation as he doesn't want to be buying players that a new manager wouldn't want in his side.

He added: "The situation as it is is less than ideal. I need to know if I am signing players who will be playing for me or for someone else.

"I'm in flux a bit. I don't want to be signing players who will be at this club for the next two or three years if the next manager doesn't want them. My scenario puts me in an awkward position when negotiating with players."
