Pardew Hints At Foreign Signings

Pards thinks that when foreign players come to England they tend to opt for a move to the Premiership where often they sit in the reserves and receive a large pay packet.

He told readingfc.co.uk "Everyone is now on hold in the Football League, but the Premier League clubs are not. They have an advantage that they can compete for the good Bosmans as squad players. With the financial security they can offer, the players may not be able to turn down the money.

"A lot of the good Bosmans are going to sit in the top division's reserve sides. Agents are also constantly ringing me up for players, so maybe we will have to go abroad to get a better product."

Trinidad & Tobago international Anthony Rougier is currently the only foreigner in the Royals squad. The Royals boss also told readingfc.co.uk that he expects some of the academy players to play a bigger role next season:

"We also have young players coming in, and to name a few, Jamie Ashdown, James Harper, Darius, and Joe Gamble - the ball is in their court and we think they can handle First Division football.

"From the Academy, midfielder Andre Boucaud has a chance of being involved in the first team squad. Alex Stanley has an outside chance although he is very young. Simieon Howell has an outside chance, and the way Peter Castle is improving, he may only be 15, but I may play him anyway!!"
