McCarthy has made 15 appearances for the Royals this season as cover for the injured Adam Federici and was exceptional in the FA Cup win at Everton in March.
He will hope to see off competition from Jason Steele, Scott Loach and Frank Fielding to be Stuart Pearce's first choice.
England start their campaign with a tricky fixture against Spain on June 12 before taking on Ukraine and Czech Republic.
