Former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister was delighted to see the Sky Blues record a fourth successive win.

His side defeated an impressive Reading outfit 2-0 thanks to goals from Craig Hignett and Richie Partridge.

Speaking after the game the player-coach said: "I'm very pleased with the three points - that's two home victory on the bounce, which is something we haven't done so I'm delighted. We got the job done. It was scrappy at times but there was some decent football amongst it."

McAllister adopted a 4-5-1 formation for the clash - one that Reading have used to great effect in recent months. Coventry's defence put in a performance to match those of the Royals they put in during their seven match clean sheet run.

McAllister commented: "All credit to the back four and the goalkeeper, they were outstanding. Morten Hyldgaard is growing with games and with the fact that he is now part of something. I think before he felt he was just drifting along at Coventry but now he's very much party of our recent successful run.

"Richard Shaw was my man-of-the-match. I think your seeing the Richard Shaw of three or four seasons ago and he's really on his front foot. He's looking very aggressive in the tackle, he's not thinking about making mistakes and is very positive in his play.

"But the three guys beside him were also extremely disciplined. At times Reading put some quality balls into the box but at no time in the game did I feel we were under threat."

The Scotsman's in form side now face Neil Warnock's impressive Blades outfit that recently defeated Reading. The clash is sure to be a tough one for the Sky Blues as Sheffield United are currently poised third in the league, periously close to the automatic promotion positions.

"The first game of the season against them was probably one of the toughest games I've played in and going up there will possibly be even tougher," commented McAllister.

"They're a very physical side, very committed and they've also got some outstanding young players. But this is an opportunity for us to go up there and continue our decent away form. Having already beat them here at home it's a chance for us to do the double on them."
