Kitson: We can achieve promotion

Twenty-four-year-old centre-forward Kitson, who has hammered home eleven Championship goals already this season, revealed he believes the Royals are good enough to win promotion to the Premiership.

Reading currently lie third in the league and are poised just two points behind the automatic promotion places with well over a third of the season gone.

With leaders Wigan heading to the Madejski Stadium later this month, the Royals will be looking to keep the pressure on.

Although the club's form has dipped a little recently after a roaring couple of months, Kitson reckons the Royals are good enough to win promotion to the Premiership this season.

"We're definitely capable," he said, speaking to the official site.

"We've got a long road to go but we're capable of succeeding."

"We're maybe a bit thin on the ground in areas, I think Steve Coppell would admit we need some cover at the back but the nucleus is very, very sound. It's a team that's been on the edge of getting there and we just need a break."

Kitson, who has hit four goals in his last four matches, has played a crucial role in propelling the Madejski Stadium side into their lofty league position.

The Hitchin born frontman was signed for a bargain £150,000 from Cambridge United last December and has won the club's Player of the Month award an impressive three times on the trot.
