Basingstoke Town manager Frank Gray is hoping to keep on-loan Reading goalkeeper Simon Locke until the end of the season. The Reading shot-stopper has kept two clean sheets in two starts for the Blues but his loan deal is due to expire at the beginning of February.

Gray told BBC Berkshire: "He's been performing very well, he's managed two clean sheets so far which is very good.

"We're pleased with the way it's gone so far and we hope for it to continue."

He added: "It's up to the player and Reading, but we'd like to keep him for longer that's for sure."

Basingstoke travel to Thurrock tomorrow evening in the Blue Square Bet South on the back of two victories in a row, but Gray is expecting a tough game against the relegation battlers.

"It will be a tough game for us, they've changed things round in the last few weeks and they've got a new manager.

"They've been performing well recently and we've had them watched a few times."
