Forster Injury Blow Rocks Royals

Alan Pardew will have to look at his other attacking options over the busy Christmas period as Fozzy is set to miss the whole of the Christmas run of games.

The 29-year-old has proved indispensable in recent months with some superb attacking play.

Forster sustained the injury mid-way through the first half of Reading's game with Nottingham Forest at the weekend and was unable to continue. Without the former Brentford man's attacking play the Royals looked unlike scoring and eventually lost the game 2-0.

With nine points and an FA Cup tie to be won or lost over the next couple of weeks Forster's absence is untimely and could ultimately prove costly.

Club physio Jon Fearn explained the severity of the injury to readingfc.co.uk: "He's got what is known as a grade two hamstring injury and will probably be out for a couple of weeks."

For Boxing Day's game with Coventry it is likely that the Royals will switch to a 4-4-2 formation with Martin Butler and Jamie Cureton starting up-front.

It is possible that rising star Nathan Tyson and Trinidad & Tobagan international Anthony Rougier could also get the chance to fill the gap left by Fozzy, despite both being predominately wide players.
