EXCLUSIVE: Westcoast Deny Pulling Out of Royals Sponsorship

Last updated : 16 September 2002 By Rob Cooper

Rumours had suggested that the IT company, established in 1984, were set to announce that they would not continue their sponsorship of the Royals at the end of the season.

Westcoast, who have sponsored the Royals shirts for four seasons now, would likely have to pay more to have their brand emblazened across the chests of Reading fans due to the clubs promotion to Division One. This despite a recent slowdown in advertising revenue.

The firm denied that they were to end their sponsorship at the end of the campaign.

A Westcoast spokesman exclusively told Reading Mad: "No decision about renewing the deal has been made, so as far as I know the reports suggesting otherwise are just rumours."

Should Westcoast decide not to renew their deal the likes of NPower, Kyocera Mita, Fosters, Courage and Ultima Business Solutions are thought to be the favourites to land the deal for next season.
