Cummings thanks ex-boss Rodgers

Cummings told BBC Berkshire: "He gave me my opportunity because I was at Chelsea reserves at the time and he knew me from there.

"I thank him for bringing me here. Now he's not here, I have to work hard under Brian McDermott."

Cummings added: "He [Rodgers] knows where he wants to be. That [the Premier League] was where he wanted to take Reading but unfortunately it didn't happen."

Defender Cummings has made just 12 appearances for Reading this season, but came into the team in midfield for their

play-off semi-final second leg win at Cardiff City.

Cummings said as long as he is in the squad, he does not mind where McDermott asks him to play.

"Hopefully I'm relaxed wherever I play," he added. "If the manager needs me to play in a position, then hopefully I'll try to do a job there and I'll try to do my best, which I think I've done."
