Steve Coppell has explained his reasoning for signing Noel Hunt from Dundee Utd.

The younger brother of Royals player Stephen Hunt is someone that has interested Coppell for quote a while. Reading have allocated Noel squad no. 11.

Speaking to the online TV station Reading World, Coppell said, "He's a player we've known about for quite a while. Obviously there's the family connection, and we were aware of him some while back.

"I've known about him for many years because when I was at Palace Stephen used to talk about him being a really good player and I've watched his career with interest.

"We had him watched a humber of times last season and now Kits has gone as well. I said I was happy with three forwards but an opportunity arose.

"We felt that he would be a good addition. He's flexible, he can play right across the line up front. Like Stephen he is a wholehearted player.

"He led the line a number of occasions in Scotland last year. He can link up, and like his brother he can get on the end of things. He's got a terrific leap for a small bloke, and he's infectious. He's young and hungry, and we hope that can rub off on some of the other players here."
