Coppell aiming for 9 points from 9

Talking to the official website about the remaining three games Coppell said.

"We will gratefully accept wherever we finish.

"I just question whether it would be of benefit to us. It's too strong, too early.

"I think the fans understand my logic, and there's a process involved.

"Big Sam talked a lot of sense when he said it was three or four years before Bolton were ready. You've got to grow into it.

"It's potentially dangerous, as recent clubs have proven. The upside is that you might get a glamour tie, but the downside is that you play too many tough games too early.

"For me, the Premiership is more important than any European games, that's my perspective.

"We'd have to sign more players, and that could make us more cumbersome and affect the balance.

"If we had to take it we would, but it could be very dangerous.

"If you ask me in terms of planning I make no pretence, it could be dangerous for the long term plan.

"Our goal is just to get as many points as possible. We've got three left and we'll be going flat out to get nine points.

"That's easier said than done though, Newcastle will have Owen, we've found Watford hard to beat recently and nobody would relish going to Blackburn."
