Boss Brian McDermott has masterminded a run of wins which has pushed the Royals clear of the bottom three of the Championship and into the FA Cup quarter finals, where they host Aston Villa on Sunday.

Church - who scored a fabulous goal in the 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday - said: "Confidence has been high since the start of the year when we got the result against Liverpool.

"That seemed to turn things around and since then we have been growing as a team and I think it is showing.

"We don't really look that much at the table and we have just got to keep on going to the end of the season.

"Our only focus is on the next game which is Villa in the cup and we can only have a lot of confidence going into that game."
