Champagne at the ready...

The Royals will confirm what has been an almost foregone conclusion for months on Saturday if they beat Leicester City; promotion to the Premiership.

Key Icelandic midfielder, Brynjar Gunnarsson insists the main reason behind their fantastic form this season is their mentality.

Talking to BBC Sport, Gunnarsson revealed that their mental strength has been instrumental as they lie three points away from the summit of English football:
“Strangely enough we have had to show our mental strength when things were going well.”
The Iceland international, who left fellow promotion chasers Watford at the end of last season, also said that the pressure on them to do well has helped them:
“Everyone has been saying this would be our year, but we had to ignore that. You can't afford to get carried away because you never know what can happen in football.”
But with the Championship leaders so close to the prize of playing the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for the first time in their 135 year history, Gunnarsson admits that prospect has got the team even more motivated to go on and win the league:
“We'll celebrate when it's mathematically certain. And as for the Premiership, we'll take care of that when we get there. To win the title would be fantastic for the fans, the town and the players who have all worked so hard to get the club in this position.”
Come Saturday, all involved with Reading will know that a win at the Walkers Stadium will seal promotion. They will still go up with a draw if neither Watford nor Leeds win. Even if Leicester win the Royals will be promoted if both Watford and Leeds lose, or Watford lose and Leeds draw. So get your statisticians hat on and wait for the weekend.
