Burnley v Reading. Match preview

The Royals are seeking a second away win of the season following a disappointing draw against managerless QPR last weekend.

James Harper and Kalifa Cisse are both pushing their claims for a place in midfield ahead Jem Karacan and Brynjar Gunnarsson after drawing a blank at the Madjeski Stadium.

Midfielder Marek Matejovsky is continuing his rehabilitation from an ankle but Coppell is unlikely to risk the Czech Republic international.

Defender Michael Duberry is also not ready for a first-team return from a calf injury despite appearing for the reserves in recent weeks while skipper Graeme Murty (calf) is still on the treatment table.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle could be without central defenders Steven Caldwell and Clarke Carlisle.

Skipper Caldwell was substituted in the second half of Saturday's clash at Charlton after taking a knock, while Carlisle also took a knock during the 1-1 draw.

Neither player trained on Monday and Coyle will assess both men closer to kick-off, saying: "We will give them until the very last minute, but both are doubtful for the game at this stage.

"Neither are serious injuries, like Russell Anderson (cruciate ligament), but we can reshuffle and we will have to do that."

If Caldwell and Carlisle are passed fit then Coyle could name an unchanged side for the fourth game in succession as he has no other concerns.
