Burnley Game Postponed

Steve Coppell last night received a call-up to David Platt's England Under 21 squad for their forthcoming game against Turkey on Friday.

The ginger-haired midfielder joins Welsh international Adie Williams and Jamaican Omar Daley in receiving international call-ups.

As the Royals have now received three call-ups the game has been postponed. No new date has been set for the Turf Moor encounter.

Burnley fans were delighted with the news as experienced centre-back David May would have been missing from their line-up due to suspension.

The news is also good for Reading, as the new manager will have more time to get his squad in order before his first game which will be against Gillingham at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday 14th October, kick off 8pm.

The news will prove bittersweet for fans determined to travel to Turf Moor. On the one hand they will now be able to watch the England v Turkey Euro 2004 qualifier on the tele, but are likely to face a somewhat grim mid-winter trip up North to Burnley in mid-week.
