Burnley Condemn Missile Throwers

The Turf Moor side are seeking to catch the culprits who threw missiles onto the playing surface during Saturday's game.

In the second half of the encounter missiles thrown from the Jimmy McIlroy Stand landed periously close to visiting goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann.

Burnley could face charges over the incident as match referee Roy Pearson has confirmed that he will be mentioning the incident when he files his match report to the FA.

The club today released a statement condemning the acts of those who threw missiles onto the playing surface.

The statement read: "This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and may result in the club receiving a heavy fine and other penalties.

"The club is making every effort to identify the person(s) responsible and anyone with any information who witnessed these actions should contact Alex Wood, Ground Safety Officer, immediately on 01282 7000000."

The Clarets now face an anxious wait before hearing if the FA will take any action for the events.

Meanwhile, Reading's final day fixture with Stoke City on Saturday 4th May has been brought forward, along with all the other Division One clashes to 1.30pm after the Football League consulted Sky Television.
