Ashdown Involved In Cherries Injury Crisis

Jamie Ashdown, who hasn't played for Bournemouth, the side he is on loan to from Reading, for two weeks, is currently involved in a goalkeeping injury crisis at Dean Court.

For Tuesday's Worthington Cup clash with Brentford the South Coast side were forced to play midfielder Marcus Browning in place of Chris Tardif who limped off with seventy minutes on the clock.

Browning had to face extra time and then penalties as the Cherries didn't have a goalie on the bench.

The trouble continues, number one 'keeper Gareth Stewart is unavailable, whereas Chris Tardif is out and Reading loanee Ashdown may not be fit to play meaning a youth team player may have to start on Saturday.

Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll told afcb.co.uk: "Ashdown comes back on Thursday with a view to being involved on Saturday, but we think it is unlikely that he will be ready.

"Jamie thinks he might be ready so we'll have to wait and see. I think we might have to play a youth team player because if we need another 'keeper we'll first have to get special dispensation and then be able to afford his wages."
