A History Of Reading V Derby Clashes

Whilst Reading have only ever met with Derby twelve times in their history, an 83.33% success rate in home games makes impressive reading. Indeed, the Midlands side have won just once in Reading and that win came way back in April 1984.

However, away from home Reading have not enjoyed the same success. In six meetings, the Royals have managed just one win and one draw, with the four further games between the sides ending with the Rams victorious.

Last season's results backed up the stats, with Reading winning at home and losing away.

The 3-0 opening day defeat of last season will for a long time be etched in the memories of Royals fans for a long time, not so much because of the result but due to the significance of the game, it was Reading's first game in Division One for five seasons. In December, the Royals won 2-1 at home to the Rams thanks to a last minute winner from Jamie Cureton, Curo, who now of course plays in South Korea, capitalised on Tony Grant's error to score an unlikely winner. You Can Read Our Match Report From That Game Here.
