All Meat No Veg

Toasting the Royals win there was a story doing the rounds down the local that to my surprise is actually true.

Romanian fourth division club Regal Horia completed the signing of UT Arad's Marius Cioara last week. It’s only when you find out his transfer fee was 15 kilos of sausage meat that it gets a bit bizarre.

A spokesman for the club confirmed: "We gave up the team's sausage allowance for a week to secure him, but we are confident it will be worth it."

Unsurprisingly a deal that was orchestrated by a butchers wage was never going to work out and as the peculiar transfer fee was ‘leaked’ to the press, Cioara became a laughing stock. Unable to handle the pressure, in a Marco Boogers esque move, he decided to retire from the game and move to Spain to become a farmer.

"The sausage taunts all got too much, they were joking I would have got more from the Germans and making sausage jokes," he complained. "It was a huge insult. I have decided to go to Spain where I have got a job on a farm."

It hasn’t been revealed what type of sausages they were but to make things a little bit more spiced the club have asked for them back. Could make an interesting court case…
