Children (and parents), are you finding yourselves a little bored this summer?

Mid August is upon us, so children across Berkshire are no doubt beginning to struggle to occupy themselves and (whisper it) are secretly looking forward to returning to school next month.

But parents, to alleviate your woes, for an afternoon at least, Reading Football Club are hosting an open afternoon at the Madejski Stadium next week.

On Wednesday 18th August, the club are inviting all fans to the Madejski Stadium to meet the players who will be signing autographs for supporters from 1pm onwards.

There will also be a chance to have your photo taken with the players.

But the autograph signing will be merely a prelude to the afternoon's main event - the reserves taking on Aldershot.

Last season, the Royals defeated Aldershot 10-0 in a similar game. Although a similar cricket score is unlikely, there should certainly be plenty of goals and hopefully a Reading win.

The likes of Shaun Goater, Lloyd Owusu, Glen Little, Jamie Young, Dean Morgan, Bas Savage and Ibrahima Sonko are all likely to feature. So you can guarantee there will be some top players on display.

The reserve team championship, which the Royals won last season, will also be being shown off.

Entry to the ground next Wednesday will be free for under 16s and season ticket holders, although all other adults must pay £4 on the turnstiles to get in.

There will be no charge to park the car at the Madejski Stadium. Also, shuttle buses will be running from the town centre, costing £2 return for adults, and £1 return for under 16s.
