Sheff Utd Game 'Kids For A Quid'

After the success of the 'Kids for a Quid' scheme operated for the home game against Wimbledon last month Reading have decided to sell childrens tickets for £1 again, this time for the home game against Sheffield United.

The Royals have been criticised in recent months for relatively poor turnouts - many people had expected the club to average in excess of 15,000 in Division One.

Gates traditionally tent do drop in the run up to Christmas so the special promotion should help to get much needed support through the turnstile.

Speaking on the decision to reduce prices for the Sheffield United game Stadium Manager Boyd Butler said to readingfc.co.uk: "With consecutive home games before Christmas against good opposition it is an ideal time for this promotion.

"Our recent promotion at the Reading V Wimbledon fixture was a success in the sense that it was the biggest home crowd of the season so far.

"The corresponding fixture last year, against Wigan, also saw one of the biggest attendances of the year.

"By lowering the costs for children it helps all families and it also makes a good opportunity for new supporters to come to the ground.

"By announcing it this long in advance we hope everyone has the chance to come along and support their club rather then going Christmas shopping in their local town."
